How To Increase Sales From Mobile Marketing

Mobile marketing is a huge potential source of traffic, customers and profit for your business, but as yet fairly untapped. Yet, over the next three years, it is predicted that more than half current internet users will be accessing the web via mobiles and other handheld devices.

Mobile marketing offers a very personal kind of interactivity for relationship building with your prospects. It’s not just about bombarding folk with text SMS marketing messages. Mobile friendly web sites and mobile applications mean marketers can reach a much greater target audience.

The statistics are pretty convincing and competition in the mobile direct marketing arena is still comparatively low.

Growth in mobile customers

World wide there are 4 billion people with mobile phones. In fact, there are almost five times more cell phone owners than laptops and computer owners, especially home internet ready.

Gartner, the IT research company, predicts that over the next three years over half current internet users will be accessing the web via mobiles and other handheld devices.

“There are clear opportunities for mobile transactions to grow as users, in this and previous surveys, indicate that they want to be able to use their mobiles to buy more goods, such as books, music, travel services, household utilities and electronic appliances,” says BuzzCity CEO, KF Lai.

It’s a very global trend. BuzzCity’s recent survey questioned 1,798 mobile users across the Americas, Asia, Africa, Western Europe and the Middle East and showed that 90% had directly purchased products or services via their mobile.

The trend towards mobile marketing

It’s no surprise really that the fastest growing marketing technologies and emerging channels are mobile, rich media and social media. You only have to do a search on some of the popular keywords for the internet marketing and online home business industry to see how these methods are all being adopted with enthusiasm by marketers.

Unica just released its “The State of Marketing 2010″ results from the latest Global Survey of Marketers and there are some astounding findings.

The survey reported that “Nearly half of marketers surveyed have already embraced social media marketing, and adoption is healthy across most social media outlets, such as blogs, Facebook, and Twitter. However, marketers need to think more about integrating social media with other marketing tactics.”

Despite the rapid increases in the potential audience, “mobile marketing” is a relatively new practice. The term describes marketing on or with a mobile device, such as a cell phone using WAP or text messaging to communicate between the business and the customer.

Mobile marketing is increasing in significance with over 30% of marketers surveyed already using some form or other of mobile marketing and many sources of information (magazines, and services available to support them.

Nevertheless, mobile advertising has grown over the past 1-2 years (almost 100% in the UK), despite the economic recession. The total is pretty small compared to advertising on the internet, which last year was higher than that spent on TV.

However, the Mobile Marketing Association suggests the growth in mobile marketing is likely to accelerate as handsets equipped with new technology, including mobile broadband, become ubiquitous and consumer behaviour changes.

The response from marketing vendors isn’t far behind. For instance, 84444.com recently launched its Do-it-Yourself mobile marketing campaigns that can be run from the convenience of a desktop computer. YouTube is making huge changes to its mobile web presence and has now begun incorporating adverts throughout its mobile site.

How to tap into the mobile market

Anyone in business should always be looking for new ways to reach out and touch their customers and build attention from new prospects. And mobile marketing may just be the golden ticket.

Your mobile user is permanently switched-on, impulsive and ready to interact at the drop of a hat. Who wouldn’t want to tap into mobile marketing? It’s the ultimate direct response tool.

Mobile marketing, you could argue, is perhaps a rather more captive audience. When someone has their phone in their hand and downloads a page, they are much engaged than on a desktop based website. It’s a much more powerful direct response tool than the internet.

Conversions from mobiles compared to web or email marketing are five times higher. And, obviously competition is much lower because nobody really knows about this yet.

So what changes do you need to make in your business to attract mobile clients?

Well, first you should make sure your website is mobile friendly, especially if you are sending text SMS messages with active web links to your mobile contacts. There’s a tonne of reasons why this is important, but mostly because mobile is an instant and impulsive kind of medium, so you want the recipient to be able to follow the link and get to a useful page and quickly.

Consider that subscriber on your email list may well be reading their messages on their phone. So you want to keep your main message and link above the fold’ to use a newspaper term. To clarify: when you’re accessing emails from a mobile, sometimes the longer ones will get truncated so put your link early on and remember the rules of compelling headlines.

But also, as with the SMS, your mobile user should be able to click your call to action link in the email and bring up the page right there and then from their phone’s web browser. The chances they will visit your website when they get back to their PC are far lower.

Google is actively hunting for decent mobile enabled sites to feature in its search results, since this is a huge source of revenue for them if their users are happy. There’s not enough mobile sites out there. So learn how to create a Google-friendly mobile version of your site and you could rank higher than for your regular desktop site.

There’s a whole spectrum of solutions for making your webpage mobile friendly. These range from the simple and cheap like adding a bit of code you add to your wordpress blog to a more complex and expensive decision to create a complete and total mobile website.

Getting your site indexed by Google on the mobile search engine?

Google have mobile site maps distinct from the usual site maps. Check out their webmaster tools for help on that. And get yourself listed in the Google local business listings. Google has a way you can build a mobile landing page within that tool. It works best for brick and mortar businesses, but it’s all good web presence.

Google knows that people search differently on their mobiles than they do on their desktop. They actually have a specific mobile keyword research tool. Not a bad idea, then, to clue up the whole different algorithms search engines are using for mobile searching.

Another thing to remember to keep your mobile text ads short, mirroring the style of social networking conversations. Opera (one of the mobile browsers) statistics show that 41% of people accessing the mobile web are going to social network sites, so myspace, facebook, twitter. These are intertwined and meshed together as a tool, so these ads need to work together.

You want to add a mobile phone field to your web page capture form if you currently capture your visitors’ names and email addresses. With a list of numbers, you can unleash your mobile direct marketing power by sending automated, scheduled SMS or text messages to your subscribers.

Internet marketers have known for years the money is in the relationship with your email list. As mobile marketing gets unleashed, it’s likely your phone list will become the gold standard.

Bluetooth is the new medium that is used today by business owners to market their products and services. By sending small images, videos, vouchers or even their business cards to cell-phones via Bluetooth, business owners have managed to attract more customers and to boost their sales. Nowadays, banners just don’t give the required effect like they used to. Today, Bluetooth is the way to go.
Bluetooth marketing is also known as Proximity marketing because it sends advertisements to the devices in the business proximity. Obviously, the major advantage of having the promotions delivered to customers nearby is that the recipients will have the chance to check out the products or go through the store to find out more about what is being offered..
By using the traditional methods of advertising like banners and SMS, businesses were either limited by the space of the banner or the text length that can be used to show or send the promotions. Using Bluetooth marketing, however, there are no restrictions about the size or how many advertisements are sent. Moreover, with the old marketing methods, it was impossible to send attractive media content to customers. Now, using Bluetooth marketing, a business can send:

What is really great about Bluetooth marketing is the fact that it can send almost anything a phone can recognize and display to its owner. So, there’s a load of options to choose from. Whether the choice is to send that video clip that has the business latest product with the phone number included or to send a special discount for the person receiving the ad, with Bluetooth marketing, it can be done with the ease of clicking a button.
To summarize the advantages of Bluetooth marketing:-
1. Bluetooth marketing is flexible and easy to setup.
2. Bluetooth messages are FREE, so, there’s no running cost for this marketing method.
3. Runs on auto-pilot: after the campaign is configured, the advertisements will be sent automatically. No need for any additional configurations or interventions.

Where can Bluetooth marketing be used?
The answer to this question is simple. It can be used anywhere…
Bluetooth marketing can be either installed in a fixed location like a shop in a mall, a gallery or a coffee shop. A crowded location would be ideal for this promotion method.
It can also be installed in a mobile location like a car or a van. If the business is mobile like taxis or even towing vans, you can install the system to send promotions to the people nearby.

It’s important to remember that the major advantage of Bluetooth marketing is that it sends advertisements to the people nearby which means it’ll have a great chance of converting these recipients into customers.

Aeutus Marketing puts emphasis on targeting small businesses and Spanish speaking business owners

PHOENIX, AZ, September 21, 2010 – Former bank employees and now business partners, Christopher M. Castillo and Alexander B. Anaya, have recently teamed up to form Aeutus Marketing headquartered in Phoenix Arizona. The pair met four years ago when they both worked for M&I Bank. Christopher Castillo is from Milwaukee, WI and worked for M&Is; Corporate Marketing Division and met Alex Anaya while visiting Phoenix to conduct Marketing Training for M&Is; Business and Commercial Bankers. Castillo was impressed with the Phoenix area and eventually left M&I in early 2009 to focus on his business, Castillo Consulting Services, that has been assisting small business owners with Marketing and Public Relations support for over five years.

Castillo moved to Arizona in early 2010 and brings over 17 years experience in Marketing, Internet Services, Public Relations and Communications. He is now the CEO of Aeutus Marketing and holds his BBA, MBA and has received various awards for helping the community and volunteering his services to assist aspiring entrepreneurs.

Alex Anaya, Aeutus Marketing COO, also recently left a banking career at M&I Bank after working there over six years. Anaya states “One of the numerous benefits of working for M&I bank of Arizona was that I was able to meet many business owners, however I soon learned that the services that I provided wasnt enough to help them become more profitable. Many of them knew about their particular industry, however most of them did not know how to properly market themselves and target a certain niche.” Anaya continued “I would also get many Hispanic business owners approaching me because many of them only spoke Spanish and did not have a clear understanding on how to start a business in the U.S.” Working for a very conservative bank, he was limited to the knowledge that he could share and started getting requests from some of these clients to assist them with such things as helping them with the basics to get a business started and for Marketing and Advertising assistance. In 2009, he created Anaya Consulting Group to assist people with starting business entities as well as with Marketing and Social Media support.

Christopher Castillo and Alex Anaya both understand the importance of reaching out to the public in order to increase market share, as that is always the goal for all financial institutions. Aeutus Marketing will focus on assisting small and medium size business and currently has a small staff. One of the primary focuses of Aeutus Marketing is being an advocate to assisting Latino owned businesses.

Anaya comes from a family of entrepreneurs who have migrated to the U.S. to live the American dream of running their own enterprises. Christopher Castillo also has a background in assisting Hispanic owned businesses. Castillo previously worked as a Technical Assistant at the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) for nearly four years in a bilingual entrepreneurial course geared toward helping people create business plans regardless of their English proficiency. He is also a founding board member of Milwaukees Latino Entrepreneurial Network (LEN) that started in 2005 with nine members and now has over 200. He helped LEN become nationally recognized, and awarded, by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.

Castillo has a long history of helping business owners with business plan creation and with his passion, Marketing. In 2006, he was the United States Congress Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition recipient, inrecognition of outstanding and invaluable services to the community. He was also the 2009 Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute (MEI) Volunteer of the Year Award recipient as well as the Wisconsin 2008 Small Business Administration (SBA) Minority Business Champion, Nominee and Runner-up. In 2006 he recieved the Community Service Award for the dedication, commitment and service to entrepreneurs and business owners of the Greater Milwaukee Area, presented by El Centro Empresarial and UWM. In addition, Christopher is an active board member at his alamater, University Of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW), for their Business Schools Minority Business Program. Castillo also has a passion for helping youth with their business aspirations as well. For the past four years, he has volunteer at the Bilingual Entrepreneurship Summer Training (BEST) Youth Camp sponsored by The Latino Entrepreneurial Network, Milwaukee, WI.

One of the areas that Alex Anaya is very passionate about is to stimulate the growth of minority owned businesses, as many truly do not understand the benefits of marketing their products or services appropriately. As a Business Management graduate from the University of Phoenix, he is prepared to take his knowledge and experience to the next level of becoming active with in the community and assisting minority owned enterprises in reaching their aspirations.
